This open-air musuem is open year-round, and is the perfect spot to get started on your visit to this charming municipality and its maritime history. The park is found at the eastern gate of Canal de Soulanges bike path, so stop by before or after your bike ride to complete a great day outdoors. Now you know where to drop anchor!

The region’s one and only Parks Canada site, the Lieu historique national of Coteau-du-Lac, showcases Canada’s first lock canal and the remains of a War of 1812 fort. History goes even further back, as the location was heavily used for portages by First Nations’ peoples looking to avoid the rapids to the south. All in all, the site brings together over 7,000 years of history on the banks of Lac-Saint-François. It’s just the sort of place where children and people of all ages can get a real sense of Canadian history. Situated on the beautiful Soulanges canal, a treat for cyclists of all skill levels, the heritage park is also close to the charming old-fashioned village of Coteau-du-Lac. Located on the shore of the Lac Saint-François, The Plage St-Zotique is always a popular place for family outings during beautiful summer days. Whether you want to go for a swim, a picnic or a game of volleyball, this is the perfect place! You can also go on an adventure on the lake by renting a pedal boat, canoe, kayak or paddle board. The little ones will surely enjoy the paddling pool and the playground. The site is also open in winter! Come and explore the beach trails by walk, on snowshoes, cross-country skis or on fatbike. Fatbikes can be rented on site. There are nearly 5 km of trails designed to make you discover the beach from a different perspective. In summer or winter, various activities are organized.

Head to Rivière Beaudette, where the owners of Ferme La Belle et ses bêtes will welcome you for a guided visit to discover the joys of the farm and its animals. You will be able to pet and feed alpacas, miniature donkeys and horses. You’ll also meet the farm’s ducks and chickens. On site, explore the boutique offering items made with alpaca wool, including hats, scarves, socks and mittens to keep you warm all winter long. The farm also has a variety of crops, like pumpkins and garlic. Farm visits are by reservation only on weekends, and you may even be able to help feed the animals! Everyone is welcome!
